Events throughout the year

Dykenamar provides an excellent base for anyone wishing to take advantage of the events taking place throughout the year on Bute. We have listed some below with links to the various websites of those hosting.

Isle of Bute Jazz Festival

The Isle of Bute Jazz Festival began in 1988 and has been staged annually on the first weekend of May ever since. The Festival is a great supporter of young musicians who feature prominently in the annual programme. More information available here.

Isle of Bute, Vintage Vehicle Road Run

Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to see some of the best vintage vehicles take part in an exhibition on the island. More info here.

Bute Highland games

An excellent Highland Games enjoyed by many people each year. Pipers and Highland dancers visit from all over the world to compete at these games, sited in a highly accessible location provided with ample car parking. The final Massed Pipe Bands March from the games down through the town, is an unforgettable sight and the sound is thrilling. Don't miss the 2014 event. More information available here.

Bute Line Dance Festival

A weekend of Non Stop dancing. Music to suit all styles of Line Dancing, Country, New Country, Pop, Irish, Latin, Blues, etc.  We cater for all Dancers, from beginners to the most advanced levels. Saturday 28th Sept is our Themed Night, so why not look out a costume and join the fun. More information is available on the website

Rothesay Cycling Weekend

eatBute 2018

This annual island event aims to promote biodiversity, sustainability, traditions and cultures linked with food on Bute and the surrounding areas. More information is available here.

The Bute International Guitar Festival

This festival is an excellent celebration of the world's most popular musical instrument. This September you can enjoy some of the guitar's finest exponents on the beautiful Isle Of Bute: Rock, Blues, Country, Folk, Rockabilly, Experimental, Bluegrass, Flamenco, Traditional, Americana, Singer-Songwriter and much more in a weekend of concerts, workshops and, open to everyone, an open-mic competition!! The Baird of Bute Festival

Andrew Blain Baird was a Bute blacksmith who lived in Rothesay over 100 years ago. Details of the 2013 celebration are available from the official website here.

Bute Agricultural Show

This is an Island event which is enjoyed by all. There are riding competitions, cattle, sheep, poultry, donkey and dog showing events so pet owners as well as farmers can take part. There are also WRI baking, preserving, needlework competitions conducted throughout the day within large marquis. An excellent event with more information available here.
